A little bit about me and why I started my Travel Blog

Hi everyone

My names Sam, I’m 29 years old and I love to travel. I am living with Asthma, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, New Daily Persistent Headache Syndrome, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease, which due to some of their lovely symptoms has left me currently with limited mobility and needing to use a wheelchair to get around.

When planning a holiday there is so much more now that has to be researched: airline, airport, transfer, country, hotel and surrounding area. I started my blog because I wanted to help and hopefully encourage others in a similar situation to mine to travel and get the most out of their holiday, regardless of their disability.

I will write about my own experiences as well as information compiled from official websites and useful posts by fellow bloggers. I hope to make my blog into a place where people can go to find free information, advice and tips on travel companies, airlines, airports, hotels, mobility rentals and holiday destinations. I have also setup a section on days out in the UK as well.

I have set up a section on my blog called ‘Spotlight on a Fellow Warrior’ where I will post interviews with fellow chronic pain warriors to shine a light on their experiences and travel tips. If you would like to take part please email me at: Travellingwithchronicpain@outlook.com.

I really hope you find my blog helpful, and don’t forget that you can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

I am also a part of the getaboutable.com community. Getaboutable is an award-winning information-sharing platform that gathers and collates crowd-sourced accessibility information into a searchable database.

I started my ‘Spotlight on a fellow warrior’ section because I wanted to shine a light on others, their conditions, their local area, travel experiences, tips and bug bares. You will probably find like I did, that when you read the interviews you can relate to a lot of the things they have experienced, and the thoughts and problems they have come across, and most importantly how they have addressed it.

I hope by reading the interviews it will give you the inspiration to discover new destinations around the world, and to remember you are not alone in how you feel. I hope together, we can facilitate change, to make travel easier, and remind companies that we can’t be ‘pigeon holed’ under our condition.

So take a look at the ‘Spotlight on a fellow warrior’ section and if you fancy also taking part and answering some questions, then email me at travellingwithchronicpain@outlook.com, or alternatively message me through Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

I also just want to say again, a big thank you to Rachel, Jessica, Erika, Lottie, Hadley, Liv, Shreya, Elba, Zoe, Clare, Jess, Kayleigh, Sophie and Ryann for taking part.
